Firebirds Activate Blackwell, Foreman from Injured Reserve
April 11, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Albany/Indiana Firebirds News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League have activated wide receiver/defensive back Terrance Blackwell and wide receiver/linebacker Shawn Foreman from injured reserve list. Both Blackwell and Foreman will be in uniform and available to play this Sunday afternoon when the Firebirds host their Central Division rivals the Dallas Desperados at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Blackwell returns to the playing field after spending the last four games sidelined with an abdominal strain. Prior to the injury, Blackwell was the Firebirds' third-leading receiver with nineteen catches for 219 yards and three touchdowns. Blackwell's return not only increases team speed at the receiver position, but also improves an already potent return game. In five games this season, Blackwell has returned five kickoffs for 120 yards (24.0 YPR.). Blackwell has also rushed for two scores and has been responsible for 346 yards of total offensive.
Foreman joins the active roster after sitting out the last three weeks recovering from an ankle injury. In seven games this season, Foreman has recorded 17.5 tackles (11 solo) and two fumble recoveries. In his second year with the Firebirds and third in the Arena Football League, Foreman has caught 39 balls for 443 yards and nine touchdowns for his career. Defensively, he has recorded 82 tackles (60 solo), two interceptions, four forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.
In other personnel moves, the Firebirds have placed wide receiver/linebacker Drew O'Connor and offensive/defensive lineman Bill Duff on injured reserve, by League rule forcing them both to sit out a minimum of two weeks.
The Firebirds return to action this Sunday afternoon when they welcome their Central Division rivals the Dallas Desperados to Conseco Fieldhouse for the two team's second meeting in the past three weeks. The game will be broadcast live on NBC Sports. Kick-off is set for 2 pm. The game can be heard on the Indiana Firebirds' Radio Network, which includes ESPN Radio 950 AM (Indianapolis), WPZZ 95.9 FM (Franklin, IN), ESPN Radio 1130 AM (Brazil) and ESPN Radio 1300 AM (Terre Haute).
