FireAnts Prepare for Huge Home Game This Friday

TUPELO, MS--The Tupelo FireAnts will enjoy home field advantage this Friday as the ‘Ants take on the Houma Bayou Bucks at the BancorpSouth Center in Tupelo starting at 7:05pm.

This week's game features a National Indoor Football League match-up between the top two teams in the Atlantic South Division with Friday's winner claiming sole possession of first place in the division. This is the third meeting between the FireAnts and Bayou Bucks this season. Tupelo defeated Houma 58-50 in Week 1 and lost at Houma 84-55 during Week 8.

The Tupelo FireAnts come into this week's game in second place in the Atlantic South Division with a record of 6-2, including 4-2 in the division, and a 5-0 record at home. The FireAnts are on a one-game winning streak after defeating the Lake Charles LandSharks by a score of 65-38 last Saturday night. The FireAnts have scored a league-high 61 points per game, while allowing 46. Tupelo is averaging a league-high 114 yards on the ground per game, with 145 through the air for a total of 259 yards of offense per game. Tupelo's defense has allowed 82 yards rushing per game, and an average of 173 yards passing for a total of 255 yards of offense per game, with a total of 17 sacks, 5 fumble recoveries, and 16 interceptions. The Bucks have scored 51 points per game, while allowing 41. Houma is averaging 74 yards on the ground per game, with 163 through the air for a total of 237 yards of offense per game. Houma's defense has allowed 101 yards rushing per game, and an average of 107 yards passing for a total of 208 yards of offense per game, with a total of 9 sacks, 4 fumble recoveries, and 12 interceptions. For the season, the Bayou Bucks have been penalized an average of 5 times for 24 yards per game.
