Fire to Face Mexico's Club Puebla on Nov. 6 at Cardinal Stadium

CHICAGO, IL (Monday, October 14, 2002) - The Chicago Fire will cap-off its first season at Cardinal Stadium with an exhibition match on Wednesday, November 6 at 7:30 p.m. (CT) against Mexican First Division club Puebla F.C., featuring former Fire goalkeeper and three-time Mexican World Cup player Jorge Campos. Tickets for the game will go on sale Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. (CT).

"We're excited provide a high-level, international exhibition for all our fans to enjoy," said Fire GM Peter Wilt. "Puebla F.C. is one of the top teams in the Mexican First Division, and we're thrilled to welcome Jorge back to Chicago. The Fire is proud to continue to demonstrate its commitment and appreciation to the Hispanic community."

Puebla, which defeated Queretaro 3-1 at Mexico's Corregidora Stadium last Sunday, currently occupies fourth place in its division (Group 1) in the 2002 standings. One of Mexico's premiere teams, Puebla captured the Mexican championship in 1982-83 and again in 1989-90. The team has also won the prestigious Copa Mexico four times (1945, 1953, 1988 and 1990).

Campos has appeared in all of Puebla's 12 matches this season, helping the team to a 4-5-3 record (15 points). Pablo Caballero is the team's scoring leader with four goals in 11 appearances this season.

The weekday showdown will mark the first-ever meeting between the clubs, and the Fire's first international exhibition at Cardinal Stadium. Tickets to the game will range from $20-$35 and can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at (312) 559-1212, or at any Ticketmaster outlet or visiting Ticketmaster.com.
