Louisville Fire News Release
For the second time this week the Louisville Fire has seen players move up to the Arena Football League. Fire offensive/defensive linemen Paul White and Andrew Tippins have both signed contracts with the Nashville Kats.
Tippins has played two seasons with the Fire, joining the team half way through each season because he was working on his master's degree. Tippins broke the Fire record for sacks in a game with three against San Diego on July 9 and he earned ADT Defensive Player of the Week honors following that game. Tippins was also named to the American Conference All-af2 second team this season. Tippins finished 2005 with 11.5 tackles, five tackles for loss, one interception, four and half sacks and five forced fumbles in just seven games.
White, in his rookie year, also joined the Fire after the season started because he was also working on his master's degree. White saw action in 10 games with the Fire this season and totaled 10 tackles, one interception, five pass break-ups and five quarterback hurries.
"Both these guys played very well for us in the short time they were here. Nashville is getting two hard workers and great character guys," said Fire head coach Tommy Johnson.
The Fire will host their first open tryout on Saturday at 1:00 PM in Cardinal Stadium in the Fairgrounds. Registration will start at Noon and the cost will be $50.
Season tickets for the 2006 season are on sale now starting at just $80. Season tickets can be purchased by calling (502)368-0009 or visiting www.louisvillefirefootball.com.
