Louisville Fire News Release
The Louisville Fire (9-7) has been preparing since March for this weekend. The Fire will travel to Quad City for a first round playoff game against the Midwest Division champion Steamwheelers (10-6). Last week the Fire suffered a defeat at Quad City 66-38.
The Fire led 24-19 at halftime, but in the second half Quad City turned up the defense and outscored the Fire 47-14. The Fire has vowed to put that half behind them and go into this game with a different outlook.
"We're going to move on from that half. We looked at the film and are correcting the mistakes we made," said Fire Head Coach Tommy Johnson. "We have had a good season and want to keep playing."
The Fire has split the season series with Quad City, with the Fire winning 62-61 on June 5 in Freedom Hall and Quad City winning last weekend. The Fire offense is still at the top of af2 in four offensive categories, total offense (290.4 yards per game), passing offense (271.1 yards per game), scoring kick (132) and PAT kicking (91.9%). The Fire and Quad City combine rank in the top 10 in 11 different offensive categories.
The Fire will practice tonight at Old Cardinal Stadium at 6:45 and tomorrow night at 6:40. The team will leave for Quad City Friday morning and the game can be heard on 1080-AM WKJK at 8:30 P.M. Saturday with Paul Wilman doing the play-by-play.
