Fire Attendance Highest Among League

Louisville, KY-"Louisville Fire fans are the best in the league," stated President/Fire General Manager Dave Berryman after the Fire's season opener.

With the Louisville Cardinal basketball team playing in the NCAA tournament and the Mid-American Truck Show taking place at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center, Louisville Fire fans attendance set the mark for the first week of the season. An astonishing 11,444 fans cheered on the Fire to a 58-28 romping of the Iowa Barnstormers in the season opener.

Fire fans more than doubled the next highest attendance, which was Green Bay with (5,117). Spokane was the leading attendance holder last year and has been for the last couple years. Berryman, states, "This year Fire tickets will not be out sold. We are going to prove that we have the best fans across the league, and they aren't afraid to show it."

Louisville Fire attendance for Saturday's game was higher than three teams in the AFL, the league that the Fire intend on moving to when the new arena is completed. Those were the Colorado Crush (10,350), Grand Rapids Rampage (5,818), and New York Dragons (8,216).

Coach Tommy Johnson said, "It is an impressive sight to see that many fans in the seats for the season opener; I just hope that it continues throughout the season. With that kind of support at each of our games, home and away, our players will feel like they are playing at Freedom Hall every game."

The Louisville Fire's next home game is against the Quad City Steamwheelers on April 11, 2008. Season tickets for the 2008 Fire season are still on sale and can be purchased by calling 502.368.0009 today. Season tickets packages begin at $63.
