
Finals Sellout Streak Reaches Seven Games

PRINCETON, N.J. â For the second year in a row, the Florida Everblades had standing standing-room-only crowds for the first two games of the Kelly Cup Finals, drawing 7,465 for Game 1 on Saturday and 7,111 for Game 2 on Sunday. The crowds extend the consecutive sellouts in Kelly Cup Finals to seven games, following 2004 when Florida and Idaho sold out all five games of the finals.
The crowds on Saturday and Sunday are the 10th and 13th largest finals crowds in league history, which has had 19 sellouts in the finals. The crowds are the two largest of the 2005 postseason and the fifth and 12th largest in the Kelly Cup Playoffs since 2000. In terms of capacity at Germain Arena, the crowd on Saturday was more than 105 percent of capacity, ranking it fourth in the history of the ECHL Finals.
The 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs have drawn 233,226 and are averaging 3,762 per game, up four percent from 2004 when the league increased its postseason attendance for the first time since 1997.
There have been nine sellouts in the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs led by Alaska which sold out all but one of its eight postseason games. The Aces had six consecutive standing-room-only crowds of 6,451 and lead the postseason averaging 6,263 per game, more than the 6,251-seat capacity at Sullivan Arena. In its first two seasons in the league, Alaska has sold out nine of its 11 playoff games and 12 regular season games, including eight this season.
