Sioux Falls Stampede News Release

The Sioux Falls Stampede concluded the 2005 USHL Entry Draft late last night. In all, the Stampede selected 15 players over 20 rounds. All 15 individuals will be invited to the Stampede's tryout camp, June 2-5 in Minneapolis.

Here is a look at the Herd's final 10 draft picks:

Patrick Galivan — Forward (5th round, 47th overall)

A 5'11, 170-pound forward from Oak Park, IL, Galivan spent last season with the Texarkana Bandits of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) where he finished as the clubs' top scorer with 62 points (30g, 32a). He was named to the NAHL's second "All-Star Team" for the 2004-05 season. Galivan has verbally committed to play college hockey at Western Michigan.

Jacob Bauer — Defenseman (6th Round, 58th overall)

Bauer is a steady blueliner who recorded 19 points (7g, 12a) in 26 games for Champlin Park High School (MN) this past season. Bauer recorded a hat-trick in the Patriots 3-2 upset win over Osseo in the section semi-finals back in February.

Jacob Drewiske (Drew-ski) — Forward (7th Round, 69th overall)

Drewiske is known as a gritty forward who plays with a lot of passion. Drewiske spent the past year playing for Hudson High School in Hudson, WI where he tallied 26 points (15g, 11a) as a senior. He also recently played with Team Wisconsin who placed second in the Chicago Showcase. Drewiske is no stranger to head coach, Kevin Hartzell. His Team Wisconsin fell to Hartzell's Team Minnesota, 5-4 in the championship game, despite an unassisted goal by Drewiske.

Travis Vermeulen (Ver-mu-lynn) — Forward (14th round, 105th overall)

At 5'6, 165-pounds, Vermeulen won't be the biggest guy on the ice, but may be one of the craftiest. This past season, he was the top scorer for the Centennial Cougars (Centennial High School, MN), tallying 59 points (26g, 33a) in just 28 games.

Chris Berenguer — Defenseman (15th round, 116th overall)

Twins fans would remember his Dad, Juan "Senor Smoke" Berenguer. "Jr. Smoke" was named to the NAHL "All-Rookie Team" after posting 23 points (6g, 17a) in 54 games for Sante Fe. The 6'0, 195-pound native of Eden Prarie, MN, tallied two goals in four playoff games for the Roadrunners.

David Grun — Forward (16th Round, 127th overall)

Grun is coming off an impressive season at White Bear Lake High School (MN) where he finished tied for team lead in scoring with 40 points (22g, 18a) and helped guide the Bears to a championship in the consolation round at the Minnesota State "AA" hockey tournament. He was also a teammate of coach Hartzell's son, Eric.

Jacques Lamoureaux — Forward (17th Round, 138th overall)

Jacques is a native of Grand Forks, ND and is the brother of Tri-City forward, Mario and North Dakota netminder, Philippe. Lamoureaux finished as the Bismarck Bobcats (NAHL) leading scorer with 42 points (21g, 21a) in 50 games. The 6'1, 182-pound forward isn't afraid to mix it up either, he finished second on the team in penalty minutes with 141.

David Fisher — Defenseman (18th round, 149th overall)

Fisher brings great size and is a highly-touted defenseman. The 6'3, 170-pound junior posted 28 points (8g, 20a) for Apple Valley High School (MN) last season. In April, he was named to the "Lake All-Conference Team."

Nicholas Dineen (Da-knee-n) — Forward (19th Round, 160th overall)

A native of Omaha, NE, Dineen served as an Assistant Captain for the Pikes Peak Miners Midget "AAA" hockey team in Colorado Springs, Co. He finished the season as the team's leading scorer with 95 points (41g, 54a).

Matt Case — Defenseman (20th Round, 171st overall)

A 6'0, 185-pound native of Plymouth, MN, Case brings junior hockey experience to Sioux Falls. This past season, Case played with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs (NAHL) where he recorded 14 points (3g, 11a).
