Erie Explosion News Release
ERIE, PA - (3/6/09) The Erie RiverRats of the American Indoor Football Association will close out their 2009 training camp Saturday night with an inter-squad scrimmage at the Family First Golf Dome in Erie. With just over one week until the Rats take on the Baltimore Mariners in Baltimore on March 15th, Erie?s coaching staff is looking to finalize their roster with Saturday night?s scrimmage. Head coach Steven G. Folmar plans to take a good hard look at quite a few players Saturday night, ?We have some spots on our 30-man roster that are still up in the air and we are looking for a few guys to step up Saturday night.? The coaching staff will then meet Sunday morning before meeting with the entire team Sunday for making final cuts, and naming the final 30-man roster. ?It's that time, some guys have not made the necessary gains and we are going to have to send some guys home. It's not fun, telling a young man that he is not going to be on your team, but that is the reality of the game.? The Erie RiverRats will then name their 30-man roster that will compete for an AIFA Championship on Monday afternoon. The final scrimmage will be held Saturday night at the Family First Golf dome at 9:30pm and is open to the public and media.
The Erie RiverRats? season begins March 15th on the road in Baltimore. The team then returns for a home opener scheduled for March 28th at 7 p.m. at the Tullio Arena versus the DC Armor. Come join the RiverRats of the American Indoor Football Association in their campaign for an Erie championship in 2009.
