Danbury Claims Sunday Battle 4-2 over the Demolition

DAYTON, OHIO- After dropping a stellar shootout battle on "Pink the Rink Night", the Danbury Titans returned the favor by downing the home Dayton Demolition team 4-2. Justin Sand made his Titan debut, having been part of the Danville Dashers back in 2012-2013.

Dayton got on the board quickly in the first period, taking advantage of the first power play of the game. With just the last seconds remaining on a Jarrett Rush roughing penalty, Martin Uhnak and Jacques Lamoureux battle their way to Sand, with Scott Kozlak delivering his 11th goal of the year off a rebound. Dayton's lead lasted for nearly two minutes, as the Titans also capitalize on their first man-advantage of the day. With the penalty on Brian Marks also done, Dan Loughlin scored a shot over Jo St. Pierre to tie things up and for his 4th Titan goal of the year (and his 7th in the FHL.) Loughlin's first score came from the hands of Justin Blaszak at the 5:36 mark. Danbury took the lead for good to close out the 1st, with the first full strength tally on the game. Brett Liscomb had his first shot bounce back, giving him a second chance to lift it in and scratch in his 11th goal of the season. Danbury led 2-1 after the first, and the Titans were still battling in the 2nd.

Jo St. Pierre was replaced by Matt Cooper to start off the new frame. Cooper made his home debut with Dayton against the Titans, the same team he was a part of earlier this season and the same team he battled on his Demolition debut away. The Titans put the first goal away past Cooper at the 4:01 mark, with Ryan Patsch breaking away from a defender with Dean Yakura's airborne flip. Patsch's 20th goal was also Danbury's 7th Shorthander tally on the year, and the Game-Winner on the contest. Ten minutes later, Dan Loughlin scored the last Titans goal on the night for his second of the game, from Tyler Gjurich and Ryan Patsch. Danbury kept the Demolition offense at-bay, despite allowing Sand to face 18 shots that period.

Dayton had one goal left on the game, early in the third period. Myles McCauley went straight for the Titans goalie, pushing one over Sand for his 9th goal of the season. McCauley's tally was driven by Mike Henderson and Cory Giroux (recording his first point in Dayton and his 12th assist.) Dayton continued pressuring throughout the 3rd, combating at the end with an Extra-Attacker. Danbury held on for the 4-2 win.

The Titans improved to 27-11-4 with the victory, 16-6-3 away from the Danbury Ice Arena. Dayton fell to 8-9-2 at home, and 11-23-3 overall. Danbury also registered their third win of four contests against the Demolition.

Ryan Patsch received the 3rd Star with a one goal/one assist night, join Myles McCauley as the 2nd star (one goal on three shots) and Dan Loughlin as the 1st star on two goals. Dayton outshot the visiting Titan crew 35-28 on the game. Justin Sand took the win on 33 saves, where Matt Cooper took the relief loss with 15 saves in nearly 40 minutes of work.

Dashers Complete Sweep of Prowlers

The Danville Dashers completed the sweep of the Port Huron Prowlers on Sunday with a 7-3 win, in a penalty filled contest. The game had a total of 146 penalty minutes handed out. Danville was lead by the three goals from Justin Brausen, and a goal and an assist from both Justin Levac and Aleh Shypitsen. Ray Tremblay and Daniel Turgeon also scored for Danville. Of the 146 penalty minutes, 130 came in the third period that featured four fights and four ejections.

The Prowlers scoring came from Roger Tagoona, Scott Witmyer, and Chris Levelille. Both Tagoona and Levelille would see the end of the contest.

The Dashers will be back in action next Friday here at the David S Palmer Arena when the take on the Berlin River Drivers, the will play two games against Dayton, both being at home. Port Huron will have 12 days off before their next contest, which will be March 4th in Dayton.
