Fever Signs Pair of Receivers

April 23, 2014 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Tri-Cities Fever News Release

The Tri-Cities Fever would like to announce the signing of Wide Receivers Steven Whitehead (5'8" 180) and Mario Washington (6'0" 205 lbs.)

Whitehead will be a very familiar name to fans of the Fever; he has played the last couple seasons here for the team and also runs a successful personal training company called Elite Ambitions in Pasco.

Whitehead racked up 522 yards and 12 touchdowns in only 8 games for the Fever last season. Whitehead will pair back up with his "Texas Roadhouse Connection" Houston Lillard and give the Fever the passing duo that helped them to back to back Conference Championships in 2011 and 2012.

Washington attended the Naval Academy and was a standout player, playing both wide receiver and cornerback for the Midshipmen as well as returning punts.

Washington has spent time since college with the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL and the Philadelphia Soul of the AFL.

Mario graduated from Crest High School in Shelby, NC; where he was a three-sport standout earning four letters each in football and track and two in basketball. During his time in high school his football team won the 3A state championship his freshman and sophomore years. He was also selected to the North Carolina Shrine Bowl All-Star Game while maintaining a 3.5 GPA throughout high school.

Receiver Tre' Young was moved to Season Ending Injured Reserve, and Receiver Ed Berry was moved to Short Term Injured Reserve to complete the roster moves.
