
Fever Edge Coyotes on Final Play

For the second straight week the Central Valley Coyotes' fate was decided on the last play of the game. Unfortunately for the Coyotes, Saturday marked the second week in a row that they fell on the last play of the game. This time to the Tri-Cities Fever, 49-48 as time expired.
Central Valley let a 20 point half time lead slip away by the fourth quarter, and on the final drive of the game Fever QB Josh Kellett found WR Phil Goodman for the tying 14 yard touchdown with five tenths of a second left on the clock. Tri-Cities then kicked the go-ahead PAT as the clock read triple zeros and the Fever secured their first victory of the season.
The Coyotes did get a solid performance out of rookie WR Nichiren Flowers. Flowers hauled in seven catches for 115 yards and four touchdowns an his efforts earned him the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game award. The Tri-Cities game was the second time Flowers has nabbed four touchdowns in a game this season.
Central Valley now looks ahead to this Saturday's match up with their interstate rivals the Stockton Lightning at Selland Arena. This is the second installment of the 2008 "Golden State Rivalry" and both team look to regain their winning ways against a well known opponent. The Coyotes lead the all-time series against Stockton 6-1 and have also won three in a row versus the Lightning.
The Coyotes will host Stockton this Saturday, May 10th at Selland Arena and kickoff will be at 7:00pm. This game will be "Ladies Night" with the Coyotes in honor of Mothers Day and the Marjaree Mason Center. Also for all of the mothers in the Central Valley, they will receive a $3 discount off their ticket price. ($3 excludes all balcony seating) Additionally, the first 1,000 fans in to the arena will receive a draw string backpack.
