Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Danny Fetzer scored another short-handed goal for Corpus Christi in the third period, however, it was not enough to spark a comeback as the IceRays dropped their fourth game in a row with a 3-1 loss to the Wichita Falls Wildcats in front of 3,935 fans in the American Bank Center.
It didn't take long to start the scoring for Wichita Falls. Just 1:49 into the game, Brennan Parker scooped up a loose puck in front of the net on a big scramble. The shot was originally blocked, however, the rebound found a way into the net for a 1-0 lead.
The IceRays gave up a power-play goal with 9:54 left in the first period on a Renato Engler wrap-around that beat the diving Anthony Stolarz for a two goal lead after twenty minutes of action.
After no scoring in the second period, the IceRays capitalized while killing a penalty. Danny Fetzer forced a turnover and went in on a breakaway beating Matt Leon on the right side splitting the lead in half just 6:47 into the final period.
Wichita Falls secured the win with an empty netter late in regulation.
Anthony Stolarz stopped 35 of 36 shots in the loss.
The IceRays host the Wildcats tomorrow night at 7:35PM. Coverage begins at 7:20PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
