
Fernandez Extends Point Streak, But Ice Miners Fall to Michigan

CONNELLSVILLE, PA - After two scoreless periods, the Keystone Ice Miners and Michigan Warriors combined for four third period goals, but Michigan got three of them and picked up a 3-1 win on Saturday night at the Ice Mine.
The first goal of the game didn't come until the 1:45 mark of the 3rd when A.J. Marcinek finally broke the scoreless tie with a follow up shot from Colin Horton's chance after the Ice Miners were caught in their zone in need of a change. Keystone tied the the game at 4:25 when Taylor Fernandez scored an unassisted goal, his 5th of the season, and his 7th consecutive game with at least one point.
With just under 5 minutes remaining, Garrison Sanipass put the Warriors back ahead with a deflection on a Cody Lichtenvoort shot. Marcinek added his 2nd of the game with an empty net goal in the final minute to put the game away. In goal, Hunter Vorva, making his NAHL debut, stopped 32 shots for the win. Nick Kossoff made 28 saves in the loss.
Keystone head on the road to take on the first place Janesville Jets on Friday and Saturday night in Wisconsin at 8:05 ET. The games will be broadcast on FASTHockey.com.
