Bluefins Blast Danville

In a lopsided win, the Cape Cod Bluefins turned out their most productive and dominating game to date, pummeling the Danville Dashers en route to a 6-1 victory. The win gives them their 3rd victory of the young season. The Bluefins recorded 52 shots on Dashers goalie Breton Lindoff, who had a very rough evening between the pipes.

Forward Garrett Peters lead the way with a 4 goal performance to go along with an assist and goalie Chris Testa, who had 23 saves nearly recorded his first shutout of the season, giving up a late goal at 18:33 of the third period.

Peters opened up the scoring at 9:48 of the first period assisted by Brewster's Andrew Hutton and Kevin McCready. The Fins never looked back.

The Bluefins opened up with 4 goals in the second period.

Hutton scored his second goal of the season from David Lun and Sam Cheraso at 9:48. Then Peters followed with his 2nd from Luke Frye at 14:02 mark. The Bluefins then increased their lead to 4-0 at 15:17 as Ceraso tallied his 2nd goal from A. J. Tesoriero and Anthony Sarno. Then just 38 seconds later Peters got his hat trick from Brad Surdam on a power play goal to go into the 2nd intermission up 5-0.

The third period saw little scoring (1 goal by Peters) but plenty of action as the game became marred with several fights. At the 13:28 mark, the benches cleared on two occasions as the visiting Dashers clearly became agitated and decided that if they couldn't beat the Fins they would try their hand at beating them up. They lost in that department too. After several fighting majors and ejections, the game was resumed and the Bluefins sealed the victory after allowing a lone goal by Danville's Ray Tremblay.

All in all it was entertaining for the fans and the Fins got the win to improve their record to 3-4.

The Bluefins next home game is on Tuesday November 22nd vs. the Brooklyn Aviators at HYCC at 7pm. The game will be part of Bluefins Youth Hockey Nights and all Youth Hockey Players will receive free admission if they were their Game Jerseys.
