February Brings RoadRunner Milestones

February 3, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Topeka Pilots News Release

Over the years, the RoadRunners have seen over 250 different players come through the program. Of those, just 34 have hit the "century mark" of playing in 100 games for the team. In the month of February, five different RoadRunners figure to hit that benchmark in their career, barring things unforeseen.

The first one to hit that lofty mark will be Jasen Fernsler, playing Game 100 on Feb. 7 in Springfield, IL against the Jr. Blues. He begins the month tied for the team lead in points with 43, and leads the NAHL in power play assists with 18. On Feb. 12 in Wenatchee, both Sly Sutter and Ryan Polin will play in Game 100. Sutter is tied for fourth on the team in goals with 12 and Polin leads the team in plus-minus with a +23 rating. Two nights later, on Feb. 14, team captain Mike Gornall joins the 100 club. He enters February tied with Fernsler in scoring and fresh off a Division I commitment to Air Force. He scored a goal in each of six consecutive games, helping the RoadRunners to a 6-3-0 record in January. Then, back home on February 28, Sam Rennaker is scheduled to appear in his 100th game as well. Like his veteran teammates, Rennaker has nearly doubled his offensive output from last season.

Each of these players wears a letter on their jersey as a leader. The four without a college commitment secured will travel to Ann Arbor, MI later this month to compete in the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament.
