FC Edmonton News Release
MONTREAL, QC (May 13, 2014) - FC Edmonton will look to continue the club's positive run in the Amway Canadian Championship on Wednesday, May 14 in the away-leg of the semi-finals against the Montreal Impact (5:30 p.m. MT KO) in Montreal's home Stade Saputo. Likewise, Toronto FC will travel west to Vancouver and take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC to see who will earn a spot in the final round.
For the first time since Colin Miller took over as FC Edmonton's head coach, the team has strung together a three game-unbeaten streak in all competitions. Starting off with a win against Ottawa Fury FC in the final leg of the first Amway Canadian Championship round, followed by a 2-1 win against Montreal at home last week in the ACC, and then most recently, the club's first league win on Saturday against the Indy Eleven.
"It's a special occasion for the club, arguably the most important game in the club's history," said Miller. "We've managed a win in three out of our last four games and we know we have a difficult task ahead of us on Wednesday, but we'll be looking forward to it."
After last week's loss to FC Edmonton and another 3-0 loss to Sporting Kansas City in league play on Saturday, Montreal Impact are looking to redeem themselves against the Eddies on Wednesday. With the Impact's ownership publicly promising that changes will happen, it remains to be seen if those changes will happen before Wednesday's match.
Fans will be able to watch FC Edmonton in action on Rogers Sportsnet and can attend the official viewing party at The Pint Downtown (10125 109 St NW, Edmonton, AB). The Eddies return to league action on Saturday May17 when they take on the San Antonio Scorpions before retuning home on May 24 to face-off against the Atlanta Silverbacks. Tickets for the match start at just $10 in the YMCA Family Fun Zone and are available at all participating Edmonton YMCA locations.
