ABBOTSFORD, BC (March 26, 2014) - FC Edmonton continued its promising preseason record on Wednesday evening against Abbotsford Selects in a 4-0 victory.

The first half saw Lance Parker start in net with Tyson Farago subbing in after 30 minutes. Lance Laing, Albert Watson, Kareem Moses and Eddie Edward made up the starting backline; Mike Banner, Milton Blanco, Edem Mortotsi and Neil Hlavaty filled out the midfield and Daryl Fordyce and Frank Jonke played up front as strikers.

The Eddies wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as right-back Edward sent in a cross for Fordyce to finish, sliding through the Selects defence in the third minute. It was Mortotsi who doubled FC Edmonton's goal tally in the 22nd minute. The young midfielder came sailing into the box to finish off a header from a Banner cross. The final goal of the first half came from great team build-up after a strong period of possession from the Eddies. Some quick one-touch passes played Edward in through the Selects defence and the fullback made no mistake finishing it in the bottom corner for his first preseason goal.

FC Edmonton finished up the first half 3-0.

"The first half is a perfect example of how we want to play," said FC Edmonton's assistant coach Jeff Paulus. "Quick movement, players moving off the ball and moving into space."

Heading into the second half, Farago started out between the posts with John Smits replacing him 15 minutes in. Michael Nonni, Marko Aleksic, Mallan Roberts and Jose Lopez made up the back four. Horace James, Carlos Patino, Thomas Shores and Massimo Mirabelli played in midfield with trialist Tomi Ameobi and Sadi Jalali as strikers.

As the rain started, the Abbotsford Selects found their feet in the match and tested both Farago and Smits between the posts. But it was Jalali that made an impressive run down the near side in the 55th minute that lead to Ameobi finishing up the final cross in the back of the net to bring the Eddies up to 4-0, which was the final score on the night.

"It was a very pleasing 90 minutes," said FCE head coach Colin Miller. "There were lots of positives in the football that was played. The team is in a good frame of mind heading into the final two games. But overall, I'm very pleased with the performance."

FC Edmonton have two more matches in their 2014 preseason schedule. First against the University of British Columbia on Saturday, March 29 at Thunderbird Stadium. The final match takes place against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Tuesday, April 1. This is all in preparation for the Eddies first North American Soccer League (NASL) match on April 12 in St Petersburg against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
