EDMONTON, AB - FC Edmonton officially announced the addition of midfielder Pedro Galvao, July 29. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Galvao, 27, has spent the entirety of his career in Portugal, competing for a number of clubs that include Pamplihosa, Fatima, Sertanense and Gil Vincente before arriving in Edmonton late last week. Last season, the left-footed winger was efficient in his 2015 campaign with Sertanense, recording four goals in just 638 minutes of play.

"Pedro is a player that comes to us highly recommended," FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller said. "I spoke to him at length prior to his arrival and he is very keen to get going and very keen to start playing in North America. He has had a good career in the Portuguese Second Division."

Galvao was on the bench for FC Edmonton's most recent match on Wednesday versus the New York Cosmos after being cleared to play just prior to kick off and came on as a substitute in the 76th minute to make his Eddies' debut. He holds a United States passport.

"He looks fit and he looks athletic," Miller added. "He has very good technique. I think that once he settles in and understands how we play and gets his fitness levels up to the club's standards-obviously he is coming off a break in Europe-I think he will be a very strong addition to the squad. With having that wide left player in the team, it puts the rest of our players under increased competition for a starting position."

Galvao and FC Edmonton take on Carolina RailHawks, 2:00 p.m. MT, July 31 at Clarke Field. The match will be broadcast on City TV in Edmonton, ESPN 3 in the United States and streamed live on www.nasl.com.
