FC Edmonton News Release
EDMONTON, AB (June 3, 2014) - After a year at FC Edmonton, the club announced today the mutually agreed upon release of midfielder Gagan Dosanjh.
From Abbotsford, British Columbia, Dosanjh found success in local teams from the Abbotsford Mariners to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23 side. While he played with the UBC Thunderbirds, he scored an impressive 26 goals in 50 games.
Dosanjh made his FC Edmonton debut as a substitute on August 24, 2013 in a 1-1 tie against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. He made four more appearances in 2013 and earned 273 minutes with the team.
"I've known Gagan since he was five-years-old and I know the level of commitment that he has put into becoming a professional soccer player," said FCE head coach Colin Miller. "We discussed every avenue to make it work with him at FC Edmonton, but this is the best thing for his general health. He is very well thought of by the players and the coaching staff and I know he will always be a fan. We wish him the best of luck in his future."
Dosanjh received surgery for a knee injury in July 2013 and has spent the last 10 months recovering.
"I would like to thank the FC Edmonton organization from top to bottom, they are a first class organization and the sky is the limit for them," said Dosanjh. "I would also like to thank the coaches who believed in me from day one and I know they are creating something special at this club. To my teammates, I wish nothing but the best to such a great group of guys, you have a new fan."
FC Edmonton wishes Dosanjh all the best in his continued recovery.
