Head Coach Eric Quill

Thoughts on the environment and the match...

"The crowd was amazing. The stadium energy was outstanding. I love the energy, the passion these Toluca fans have. So when you have that passion behind you, it'd be hard not to perform with that passion. And they performed. Toluca performed tonight much better than we did in pretty much every phase of the game. So they were deserving winners tonight."

On the positive and negative takeaways from tonight's match...

"I was really proud of our response to go 1-1 right off the bat which should have propelled us in a confidence and a mentality, and yet they overpowered us again with their mentality and their quality of play. We gave up a really bad goal to end the half, and I think it killed our self-esteem, and it carried over because we gave up a goal right away in the second half. So I think the second goal was due to a decision that we made, a poor decision. So if I look at it, a poor decision going to ground in the penalty box to give up the penalty, a poor decision going to ground guessing on a slide tackle that we miss, it ends up being a cross for a goal. So our decision making is probably where I would say we failed tonight."

Forward Nick Simmonds

Thoughts on the match...

"I just wanted to help the team as much as possible tonight. When you're on the field in a tight game like that, there's not much more you can do besides help move the ball forward and create chances. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do that for the team tonight."

On the quick turnaround to Austin FC this Saturday...

"Honestly, we need to move past tonight. It sucks to lose a cup that everyone wanted to win and was hyped for. It sucks to go home, but we know there's still more to play for in the regular season, so we can't dwell on tonight's loss."

Forward Sam Sarver

Thoughts on the match...

"Tonight wasn't our best performance. Credit to Toluca for the way they played in this crazy atmosphere. It's a tough place to play. However, this game is over, and now we need to focus on MLS play, which is the most important thing for us."

On the accomplishments made in the 2026 Leagues Cup...

"I think we have a lot to be proud of. We played in front of a sold-out crowd against Chivas in San Jose and beat Querétaro. I think showing that we can compete with these teams is important. Tonight didn't go our way, but we'll take what we learned from this competition and use it in MLS play."
