New York City FC suffered a 2-1 defeat to Club Necaxa in their final Leagues Cup group game. Keaton Parks headed New York City ahead before halftime, but second-half goals from Juan Valencia and Juan Torres turned the contest around. Despite pushing for an equalizer late on, the hosts suffered a narrow defeat.

Thursday's Leagues Cup marked the first-ever meeting between New York City FC and Club Necaxa in Leagues Cup play.

The two teams previously met in an International friendly in Mexico on October 7, 2016, with Club Necaxa earning a victory.

Today's matchup marked the first time the two teams have faced each other on American soil.

New York City FC is in its fourth Leagues Cup campaign and currently holds an all-time record of 4W-7L-3D (15 points) across 14 matches.

New York City FC has scored 18 goals and conceded 18 goals in Leagues Cup play while recording four clean sheets.

The 'Boys in Blue' own a 3W-3L-1D record at home and a 1W-4L-2D record away in the competition.

New York City FC scored four goals in the Leagues Cup 2026 competition, with three coming from Defenders; Defender Max Murray, Defender Nico Cavallo and Defender Tayvon Gray, and one coming from Midfielder Keaton Parks.

With his goal in tonight's match, Midfielder Keaton Parks etched his first goal in Leagues Cup play and now has 20 goals across all competitions for New York City FC.

Forward Agustín Ojeda, Defender Tayvon Gray, Defender Nico Cavallo, Midfielder Keaton Parks and Defender Max Murray are the only players on New York City FC's active Leagues Cup roster to have scored in the competition.

Midfielder Nico Fernández Mercau recorded his second career Leagues Cup assist tonight, delivering the corner kick that led to Keaton Parks' goal.

Both of Fernández Mercau's Leagues Cup assists have come from set pieces, with his first coming from a free kick and his second from a corner kick.

Forward Agustín Ojeda, Forward Talles Magno, Midfielder Andrés Perea and Midfielder Nico Fernández Mercau are the only players on the Club's active Leagues Cup roster to have recorded an assist in the competition.

16-year-old New York City FC II Forward El Hadji Samb made his First Team and Leagues Cup debut against Club Necaxa.

Thursday's match marked Midfielder Andrés Perea's 85th appearance across all competitions for New York City FC.

Goalkeeper Tómas Romero made his Leagues Cup debut for New York City FC, etching his first start in the competition.

Forward Luighi Hanri Sousa Santos and Defender Mitja Ilenič made their first starts for the Club in the 2026 season and their first starts in Leagues Cup 2026.

Tayvon Gray recorded his 15th Leagues Cup appearance, including the 2021 edition and every tournament since the competition's 2023 expansion.
