Fayetteville's Parker Van Buskirk Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Parker Van Buskirk of the Fayetteville FireAntz is the Easton Player of the Week for November 30 - December 6.

Van Buskirk went 2-0-1 with a 1.65 goals against average, .959 save percentage and one shutout as the FireAntz captured five of six points on their I-10 road trip to Louisiana and Pensacola. For the weekend, Van Buskirk stopped 117 of the 122 shots he faced as Fayetteville maintained the best winning percentage in the SPHL at 10-2-1 (.808).

On Friday, the Windsor, Ontario native stopped 30 of 31 shots in Fayetteville's 3-1 over Louisiana. Van Buskirk was even better the next night, stopping all 41 shots as the FireAntz went to Pensacola and blanked the Ice Flyers 4-0. He closed out the weekend with another strong performance at the Cajundome, making 39 saves in a 4-3 overtime loss to Louisiana.

Van Buskirk currenly leads all SPHL netminders with a .933 save percentage and is third in both wins (6) and goals against average (2.24). After playing parts of two professional seasons in the ECHL, Van Buskirk returned to college in 2011 and spent four seasons tending goal for the University of Windsor, where he went 63-34-0.
