Fayetteville's Marco Emond Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (December 26, 2012) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Marco Emond of the Fayetteville FireAntz is the Easton Player of the Week for December 17-23.
Emond went 3-0, with a 1.00 goals against average, .971 save percentage and two shutouts as the FireAntz maintained first place in the SPHL.
Emond began the week by making 35 saves in a 4-3 win over Augusta on Tuesday. The netminder from Valleyfield, Quebec then posted back-to-back shutouts against Pensacola in a meeting between the top two teams in the SPHL. Emond made 28 saves in a 2-0 blanking of the Ice Flyers on Friday, before coming back with a 37-save performance in a 5-0 win the next night.
Now in his 15th professional season, Emond currently leads the SPHL with 12 wins, is tied for the league-lead with two shutouts and ranks second in both goals against average (1.99) and save percentage (.938). Emond has won 20-or-more games in a season five times, including a career-high 33 wins in 2002-03 with the United Hockey League's Elmira Jackals.
