Fayetteville Tops Florida, 85-83

FORT MYERS, Fla., January 23 - In a game that saw 11 ties and nine lead changes, it was Fayetteville who came out on top, beating Florida 85-83 in NBDL action at Germain Arena. Ernest Brown silenced an announced crowd of 1,717 with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks helping the Patriots (7-17) earn their third straight win over Florida (5-17), who now fall into last place in the NBDL standings.

David Young poured in 23 points and eight assists including the game-winning 3-pointer with 16.3 seconds left in the fourth quarter to give Fayetteville a lead they would not relinquish. The Flame had a chance to tie the game, but Marcus Moore's jumper with three seconds left hit off the back of the iron.

Hiram Fuller paced the way for the Flame, scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for his sixth straight double-double. Fuller has now achieved nine double-doubles on the season and moves into first among active NBDL players.

Both benches were limited as Florida and Fayetteville were down two men before the game even started. The Patriots were without the services of Omar Cook (Sick) and Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje (Injured) while the Flame were without Tremaine Fowlkes (Injured) and Tim Pickett (Not With Team).

Ousmane Cisse helped Fayetteville's bench, recording a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Carl English paced Florida's bench scoring 17 points, dishing four assists, and adding three steals.

Kirk Haston added his eighth double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and pulling down 15 rebounds in the loss for Florida.

Fayetteville and Florida will face each other again tomorrow (Monday) night, the tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
