Fayetteville SwampDogs Named 2011 CPL Organization of the Year
August 18, 2011 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain) News Release
HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - The Coastal Plain League announced today that the Fayetteville SwampDogs have been selected as the 2011 CPL Organization of the Year.
The SwampDogs were selected after team owners, general managers, head coaches, players, umpires, and league officials voted on various areas of concentration regarding the 2011 season. Fayetteville, which also won the honor in 2007, operated on a top level in 2011.
In addition to their success during regular season home games, Fayetteville also played host to the 2011 CPL All-Star Game, which was a huge, all-around success. Highlighting the All-American City of Fayetteville, the SwampDogs arranged for a special training exercise at Fort Bragg for all the All-Star players and coaches, and then hosted the All-Star luncheon at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum, with a guided tour and simulator experience for all in attendance.
Fayetteville received high marks in several areas, including - but not limited to - ballpark appearance, strong communication with teams and league office personnel, overall professionalism, postgame meals, on-field promotions, concessions, competiveness of team, offered a good, reliable, and informative CPL WebPass broadcast and CPL Live stats, and exhibited a true, positive relationship with the community.
"We are happy to honor the Fayetteville SwampDogs as our 2011 Organization of the Year," said Coastal Plain League President and Commissioner Pete Bock. "This award speaks to the job that Lew and Darrell (Handelsman), Jeremy (Aagard), Mark (Wilderman), and the rest of the SwampDogs staff do on a consistent basis. They have done a wonderful job in making the SwampDogs a huge success in Fayetteville and in our league. We are happy to recognize the entire Fayetteville organization, as well as their fans, and the community, with the honor of being our Organization of the Year in 2011."
