Fayetteville Rebounds With 101-81 Victory Over Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla., April 2 - The Fayetteville Patriots spoiled Florida's hopes of ending the season on a high note with a 101-81 road victory in the Flame's home finale at Germain Arena. David Young led the way for the Patriots (16-29), scoring 26 points (including 16 in the first half) as the Patriots ended a three-game losing streak. Smush Parker paced the way for the Flame (16-30) with his seventh double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and dishing out 12 assists.

Fayetteville took control in the first quarter and never looked back. David Young scored 16 points in the first half as the Patriots shot 54-percent from the floor gaining a 14 point halftime lead.

The Patriots continued their hot shooting in the third quarter as they increased their lead to 23 points, their largest of the game, all sparked by a 9-0 run midway through the period.

Florida did not go away quietly in the fourth, as the Flame went on a 10-1 run at the 9:09 mark to cut the Patriots lead to ten points. But Fayetteville scored the next eight points and ended the period with the 20 point victory.

Along with David Young's 26 points, Tang Hamilton scored 21, Ousmane Cisse scored 16, and Omar Cook added 12 points and 14 assists.

For the Flame, Marcus Moore scored 14 and Tim Pickett added 12 in the loss.

Florida ended the home portion of their season with a 9-15 record.

Both teams take to the road next week as Fayetteville squares off with a Thursday night tip against the Columbus Riverdragons while Florida travels to Asheville for a Friday night contest with the Altitude.
