Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release
Friday Night On a night where speed could kill it was the Jets who came to play as they used fresh legs in Roman Krivda (Ukraine) to beat Marquette 6-3.
The Jets fell behind early on a goal by James Gallagher (Marquette, MI) under five minutes into the first period. It wouldn't take long as Marc Harrie (Fargo, ND) took the puck short-handed from Robby Philipp (Thief River Falls, MN) making it 1-1. The period would end tied at 1-1 with the Jets on top with shots 15-11.
Collin Saint-Onge (Marquette, MI) put the Rangers up 2-1 and the Jets would respond with four unanswered goals from Harrie, Krivda, Andrew Muir (Hallock, MN) and Mark Johnson (Bloomington, MN) in succession, claiming a 5-2 edge after two periods.
The third period opened with Nathan Allen for the Jets heading to the box and Derek Grogan (Eagan, MN) from Marquette putting it in at 5-3. After some great fore checking from the Jets, it lead to another goal from Tyler Klein (Fargo, ND) putting the icing on the cake 6-3 for the final.
When push came to shove it was Elliot Okland (Fargo, ND) who played exceptionally well making 33 solid saves for his seventh win of the season sending the crowd home pleased!
Saturday Night Another scoreless streak for the Jets as the Marquette Rangers bury them 5-2 at the John E. Carlson Coliseum Saturday night.
The Rangers turned to Austin Mattson (Livonia, MI) for the first goal and the Jets would end the period trailing 1-0. The Jets mustarded only 10 shots, to Marquette's 17 and they proved to be the difference.
The second seemed to never end as Marquette pounded Jet's tender Elliot Okland (Fargo, ND) with four goals including a soft one that snuck through the five hole. All in all the Jet's looked like a completely different team from Friday night's 6-3 flush performance.
The third period would open with the Jets fired up and ready to get on the board with the newly acquired Joe Beaudette (Blaine, MN) from the Indiana Ice. Beaudette took a 2 on 1 break the other way and put it over the left shoulder of Ranger goaltender Matt Brooker (Richmond, VA) making 4-1. The Jets would replace Okland with Joe Dawson (Minneapolis, MN) to start the period. It would be too late as Brooker got the win and moved to 7-1-0 on the season.
On the night the Jet's were out shot 39-32 and went (1-4) on the man advantage but couldn't solve Brooker in net and Jets finish 2-2 against the Rangers. The Jets host North Iowa on November 16 at 7:35pm at the Coliseum.
Turn on the Heat Marc Harrie found ways to get along the boards, in between defenders and between the pipes as he nets three goals and an assist in a split against Marquette.
