Twin City Cyclones News Release

Pee Dee Cyclones Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations, Mark Richards, has announced that forward Chris Murphy will return to the Cyclones for the 2006-07 hockey season. Murphy, 21, played this past season in Pee Dee where he appeared in 52 of the team's 56 regular season games (second only to Edan Welch). Wearing jersey #56, Murphy scored six goals & nine assists for fifteen points and led the Cyclones in penalty minutes with 226.

The 5'-11", 200 pound native of Sparta, New Jersey played junior hockey for the USHL Lincoln Stars and college hockey for Merrimack College before beginning his professional career last season in the Pee Dee. Off the ice, Chris Murphy was one of the team's most popular players and was very active in the community as he represented the Cyclones at numerous school and hospital appearances throughout the 2005-06 hockey season.

"Chris was one of the guys who saw a lot of improvement as the season went along," said Cyclones coach Mark Richards. "We sometimes forget that he was only twenty-one and I look forward to having Chris contribute offensively even more for us this coming year."
