Alaska Wild News Release
The AK Wild family would like to introduce their new team owner Dr. Randy "Doc" Deeter. Doc has been the third largest shareholder with Alaska Professional Sports, Inc since 2007. Over the past week David Weatherholt and the IFL has been in negotiations with not only Dr. Deeter, but with other potential owners to take control of the AK Wild franchise. Doc is a well-respected man around the Anchorage area and wants nothing, but the best for the community and the AK Wild. "I want to thank Mr. Weatherholt for bringing professional indoor football to Alaska," said new AK Wild owner Dr. Deeter. "Now what I want to do is to make sure this team stays in Anchorage and with the support of our great fans it's achievable." Doc is also the Medical Director for the team and also has his own practice called, Oral Surgeons Associates.
The AK Wild family would also like to announce the reinstatement of Head Coach Hans Deemer. Deemer was fired last week, but now is back on the "Wild" side. "It's great to be back with the players and my favorite defensive coordinator Abe Hernandez."
This Sunday May 11th, the AK Wild (4-2) will face the top IFL team in the league, the Louisiana Swashbucklers (6-0). Pre-game is at 2:30pm AST; Kickoff is at 3:00pm AST. Don't miss out on our 2 for 1 clubhouse seat special (only through Ticketmaster and Ticketmaster outlets). It's going to be a Wild Mother's Day!
Game Notes: The Swashbucklers are #1 in total offense and defense in the IFL. The AK Wild is #5 in total offense and #2 in total defense. The Swashbucklers are led by QB Alvin Bartie (1161 yds and 32 tds). The AK Wild have a explosive quartet of wide receivers that features #7 Nian Taylor (24 catches and 8 tds), #12 Thomas Ford (17 catches and 4 tds), #14 Keith Smith (16 catches and 6 tds) and #8 Andre Velazquez (16 catches and 5 tds). #14 Keith Smith and #45 Curtis Morrow recently played with the 2007 IFL Champions Swashbucklers last season. On defense, IFL leading sack king #55 George Noga #99 Ma'o Tosi will have to bring the pressure needed to contain the Swashbucklers QB. Look for IFL interceptions leader DB #2 Demarcus James to be challenged throughout the game.
The Alaska Wild is part of the Intense Football League (IFL). Founded in 2003, the IFL consists of a record nine professional indoor football teams, three of which are located outside of Texas: the Louisiana Swashbucklers of Lake Charles, the Alaska Wild of Anchorage, Alaska and the Fairbanks Grizzlies of Fairbanks, Alaska. Texas teams include the CenTex Barracudas of Belton, Corpus Christi Hammerheads, Odessa Roughnecks, San Angelo Stampede Express, Katy Ruff Riders, and Frisco Thunder.
