CLEARWATER, Fla. - Bailey Falter struck out a career-high 11 batters on Saturday night, and the Threshers surged for a six-run second inning to down the first-place Daytona Tortugas, 7-1 at Spectrum Field.

Falter (4-0) yielded only two hits on the evening, and the 21-year-old lefty pounded the strike zone in his 6.2 innings. Falter threw 73.8% (62-of-84) of his offerings for strikes and did not issue a walk, holding the Tortugas to just an unearned run.

Phillies rehabber Mark Leiter Jr. took it the rest of the way, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings in his third outing for Clearwater. Leiter permitted one hit and struck out three.

Clearwater (15-21) grabbed a sizable advantage early, batting around for six runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Henri Lartigue got it going with an infield hit to the hole at short, and Mickey Moniak pulled a single to right. Edgar Cabral followed with a liner to left for a single, and the ball was dropped by left fielder TJ Friedl allowing Lartigue to score the night's first run.

Jose Pujols blooped a hit to center, and Luke Williams reached on an error on third baseman Mitch Nay that brought home two more runs to make it 3-0. Jose Antequera put down a sac bunt to set up runners at second and third.

With two down, Adam Haseley ripped a single past second to plate two more, and stole second base. Austin Listi then shot a single through the left side to bring home Haseley and make it 6-0 Clearwater. Listi has now reached base in 17 consecutive games.

Clearwater tacked on its seventh run in the sixth inning, when Antequera pushed a single through the right side to score Cabral and make it 7-0.

The lone run for Daytona (22-13) off Falter was unearned, after TJ Friedl reached on an infield hit, and a two-base error on Haseley in left put two in scoring position. Taylor Trammell's grounder to short brought home Friedl with Daytona's only run of the night.

Following an off-day on Mother's Day, the Threshers will be back home to open a four-game series against the Palm Beach Cardinals beginning on Monday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on threshersbaseball.com starting at 6 p.m.
