Falcons Re-sign RW Vogelhuber

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons, AHL affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced on Thursday that they have re-signed right wing Trent Vogelhuber to a one-year AHL contract for the 2013-14 season.

Vogelhuber began his rookie campaign of 2012-13 with the ECHL's Evansville IceMen prior to being recalled by Springfield on Feb. 17. With the Falcons, Vogelhuber accumulated seven points (4g-3a) in 27 regular-season games and added two goals (2g-0a) in Springfield's eight postseason contests. He registered his first-career AHL goal on Mar. 1, notching the game winner in a 7-2 Springfield victory over Adirondack. In 34 appearances to begin the season with the IceMen, Vogelhuber posted 16 points (6g-10a).

A native of Dublin, Ohio, Vogelhuber skated four years from 2008 to 2012 with Miami University (NCAA D-I), totaling 51 points (21g-30a) in 149-career outings. He helped the RedHawks advance to the NCAA Championship Game as a freshman in 2008-09. Vogelhuber, 24, was selected by Columbus in the seventh round (211th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
