
Falcons home opener set for Friday, October 20

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that their home opener is set for Friday, October 20 at the MassMutual Center with an opponent to be determined.
The Falcons will be entering their 13th American Hockey League season and will once again be competing within the AHL's Eastern Conference. Head coach Steve Stirling will enter his first season behind Springfield's bench, while assistant coach Darren Rumble returns for his second season as assistant coach with the Falcons.
"Opening night is always an exciting evening for our fans and we are once again anticipating a fun opening night for everyone involved," said Falcons President and General Manager Bruce Landon. "There is a lot of work to be accomplished before October 20, but with the announcement of our new head coach in Steve Stirling, we are preparing for a successful 2006-07 campaign."
The AHL's Board of Governors will consider the regular-season schedule format and the Calder Cup Playoff format for 2006-07 at the league's Annual Meeting, scheduled for June 26-29 at Hilton Head Island, S.C.
