
Fairbanks Tops Wild In Series Finale

Fairbanks, AK. - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs scored three times in the third period to beat the Wenatchee Wild 3-1 Saturday night at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Troy Loggins (Huntington Beach, California) would get Wenatchee on the board in the second. Loggins scored off an assist by Alex Bontje (Nobleton, Ontario) at 10:04, giving the Wild a 1-0 lead that would last until early in the third period.
Fairbanks would then score their three goals in the third period to take the game. Duggie Lagrone scored from Jacob Hetz at 2:19, Wyatt Ege scored from Viktor Liljegren at 8:12 and Colton Wolter scored a shorthanded goal, assisted by Ben Campbell at 17:48 and the Ice Dogs protected the lead from there, grabbing the 3-1 win.
Fairbanks outshot Wenatchee 27-20 on the night. Gustaf Johansson (Uppsala, Sweden) made 24 saves for the Wild, Kevin Aldridge had 19 stops for the Ice Dogs. Wenatchee was 0-for-7 with a shorthanded goal against on the power play and 3-of-3 on the penalty kill.
The Wild is now 18-17-4; Fairbanks is 29-12-0.
Wenatchee returns home to face Bismarck on Friday and Saturday, January 24th and 25th with faceoff set for 7:05pm PST both nights. The Wild then returns to Alaska to face Kenai River for three January 30th, 31st and February 1st, then Fairbanks for three more February 6th, 7th and 8th.
