SIOUX FALLS (S.D.) - Quarterback Terrance Bryant scored on a 1-yard run with 4:11 remaining to hand the Bloomington Extreme a heart-breaking, 40-35 loss in United Bowl IV before 4,881 people Saturday at Sioux Falls Arena.
It was the fourth straight United Indoor Football League championship for the Storm, which ended the season 13-3.
Bloomington, champion of the East Division and playing in its first United Bowl title game in only its third year of existence, led throughout the contest until Bryant's game-winning score that capped a nine-play, 30-yard drive.
The Extreme had two chances to regain the lead, but was stopped on downs inside the Storm 10 with just over a minute to play. Sioux Falls then ran three plays before Adam Hicks attempted a field goal that was unsuccessful.
Bloomington again took over on offense, but time expired just as the team crossed midfield. The Extreme ended the season with an 8-8 record.
The big play in the game came early in the fourth quarter with the Extreme leading, 32-26.
That's when Bloomington kicker Peter Christofilakos' 22-yard field goal attempt was blocked and Andre Fields scooped up the ball and returned it 30 yards for a go-ahead touchdown to put the Storm up 33-32 with 13:52 remaining in regulation.
The Extreme regained a 35-33 lead on a 34-yard field goal by Christofilakos with 9:29 to go before Bryant's game-winning touchdown five minutes later.

Christofilakos also had field goals of 22 and 53 yards. The 53-yarder came on the final play of the first half.
The Extreme finished with 272 yards of offense, while Sioux Falls had 200.
Burk, who announced his retirement after the game, completed 25 of 45 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns. Graham had nine catches for a game-high 110 yards, while Walton had eight for 75 yards.
Linebacker Blue Aldridge led the Extreme with 10 tackles, while fellow linebacker Winston Taylor had seven.
