Bloomington Extreme News Release

Bloomington Extreme indoor football coach Kenton Carr announced the signings of center Luke Wickman and former Evansville running back/wide receiver Dale Jennings on Monday.

Wickman started 14 of 17 games last season at center and was a vital cog in an offense that generated 229 yards per game and helped the team to a 9-8 record and a berth in the Eastern Conference finals of the United Indoor Football League.

"We're obviously happy to have Luke back with us," said Carr. "He was among the best centers in the league and played a big part in the offense's success. He will fill our void at center."

The signing of Wickman allows Carr to move Eric Johnson back to his natural tackle position. Johnson, who along with Wickman comprised two-thirds of last year's starting offensive line, had been forced to play center the past two games this season.

Wickman, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 320 pounds, was a two-year letterman in college at Western Illinois after transferring from Monmouth College where he started 20 games.

The Havana native started six games as a junior at Western Illinois and helped the Leathernecks lead the Gateway Conference in passing offense. He started nine games as a senior and was a member of an offensive line that helped produce a 1,400-yard rusher.

Jennings is a two-year veteran of the indoor game, playing both seasons for the Evansville Blue Cats after graduating from Butler University.

The 5-8, 185-pound Vincennes, Ind. native ranked sixth in the UIF in rushing in 2006 with 393 yards. He averaged 2.6 yards per carry, while scoring 18 touchdowns. Jennings also ranked 10th in the league in total offense with a 26.2 yards per game average. The Extreme returns to action in its only Friday game of the season at U.S. Cellular Coliseum when it meets the Colorado Ice at 7:05 p.m.

Bloomington will be looking to even its record at 2-2 after defeating the Wichita Wild, 59-38, in its last outing. Colorado, which had a bye last week and did not play, is still searching for its first victory after two losses.
