Extreme sets tryout date

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Bloomington Extreme indoor football team will hold an open tryout Saturday, Dec. 16 at Shirk Center on the Illinois Wesleyan University campus. Registration is from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. with tryouts from 9 a.m. until noon.

"We were able to sign some guys last year after seeing them in tryouts who ended up playing for us the entire season," said Extreme coach Ted Schmitz. "We look forward to another successful tryout."

Schmitz said players will work out in tennis shoes, shorts and t-shirts. Prospects will be timed in the 40-yard dash, pro shuttle run, a four-cone drill and individual work at their respective positions. The workout will conclude with one-on-one-drills.

Schmitz can bring a maximum of 45 players to training camp the first week of March. He currently has 23 players under contract.

Exterme players, who have signed contracts, to return for the 2007 season include kicker Peter Christofilakos; running back James Fuller; quarterbacks Dusty Burk and Brian McCaslin; defensive end Eric Johnson; linebackers Jason Hutton and Calvin Jones; defensive backs Dion Brown, Brian Colar, Lamar Baker and Sam Yeargin; wide receivers Patrick Hunter and Marcus Hayden; and center Mike Rudicil.

"We feel good about having so many players returning from last year," said Schmitz. "We feel like we have a strong core of returning players who know our system and how we operate as a staff.

"It seems the teams in the league that stay together from year to year are the most successful because they have so much stability."

Extreme season tickets for the 2007 campaign are now on sale. The season ticket prices for all eight homes games remain the same as last year. Premium seats (rows A and B all around the Coliseum) ) are $200 each; Club seating (only section 101 is available) are $200 per ticket; sideline seating is $120; end zone $85; and upper end zone $70.

Season ticket-holders can renew tickets, add seats or purchase seats for the first time by calling Patrick Kelly at 309-434-2664. Renewal orders can be placed by sending a 50 percent deposit of their total seat price by Monday. Dec. 4, 2006. The balance due will be no later than Feb. 16, 2007.
