Reading Express News Release
Reading, Pa. (November 15, 2010) - The Reading Express, in the quest for success in their inaugural season in the Indoor Football League, have announced the signing of defensive lineman and former Baltimore Mariner Daniel Orlebar to a 2011 contract.
Winning football has become second nature to Orlebar. A product of Appalachian State University, Orlebar (6' 3" 295lbs) won two Football Championship Subdivision (formerly 1-AA) National Championships with the Mountaineers in 2005 and 2006. The winning ways continued for Orlebar in 2010 as part of the undefeated Baltimore Mariners' drive to the AIFA championship. He was a key component for the Mariners garnering nine sacks on the year.
"This is another exciting day for the Express organization," said Express Head Coach Chris Thompson of the signing. "We are very excited to get Daniel here in Reading and bring his championship caliber work ethic to our team. Daniel has played big time football in college, and was an intricate part of the defense for the Baltimore Mariners' championship run last season. We feel that he is exactly the type of athlete and person that we want here in Reading and are really looking forward to having him play for us this season instead of having to find a way to keep him away from our QB."
Reading Express Indoor Professional Football began play in 2006 in the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa. In five seasons, the team has amassed an overall record of 64-20 with four playoff appearances, two conference titles and the 2009 AIFA National Championship. In 2011, Reading will begin play as a new member of the Indoor Football League.
