Ron got his first head coaching position at Concordia College from August 1997 to 1999. He then coached for two seasons as the associate head coach for the Long Island Surf from 1998-2000. In August 2000, he became head basketball coach for Five Towns College on Long Island thru 2003 and then became head coach for York College in July 2003 to May 2006.

"I am proud and honored to have been chosen to lead the Newark Express into its second season. This is a great opportunity for me to share my experience as a former professional player with the young men of this generation X. The coaching experience that I've gained throughout my playing days and coaching on both the college and pro level have prepared me to take this team to the next level. I appreciate the confidence that both Marsha and Jacqui have shown me and I look forward to November."
