East Orange, N.J. (Monday, January 4, 2010) - It turned out that the only thing that could stop Jersey Express (5-2) guard Jordan Fowler this past Saturday in a 131-116 win over the New York Red Riders was the final whistle to end the game. The East Orange native came out on fire and stayed hot the entire way, scoring a franchise record 49 points while adding 12 rebounds and six assists.

"I felt good on Saturday night, and my teammates found me," Fowler said of his hot hand. "The coaches told me to be more aggressive, so I looked for my shot more."

Mirroring the team-first philosophy that is stressed by the Express coaching staff, Fowler commented on the importance of the outcome in that Northeast Division match-up.

"I'm just happy that we won the game," he continued. "We needed to get back to winning after losing two straight."

Express President Marsha Blount was quick to acknowledge the importance of Fowler to the team.

"With the loss of two starters, we definitely looked for more scoring out of Jordan," she said. "We're down 40 pts and 18 rebounds per game with Samar Battle and Dwayne Howell receiving contracts from the Globetrotters and Generals, respectively. The whole team stepped it up on Saturday, and we filled some holes with quality players that will make up those numbers nicely."

The Express return home to East Orange Campus High School this Saturday when they host the Red Riders at 7:00 p.m. The theme of the night will surround the Essex County School Systems, and a special halftime appearance will also be made by Webstar and S&S from HOT 97. All student tickets for this homecoming will be only $5, and general admission adult tickets are $10. In anticipation of this night for the Essex County Schools System, the Express players and coaching staff have been making the rounds throughout the area, visiting each school that contacted them for tickets to the game. Anyone who wishes to preorder tickets can still do so by emailing info@jerseyexpress.net, and management from the Express will arrange to have its players available for delivery of the tickets at a school function.

The Jersey Express is a member of the American Basketball Association and is currently amid its fifth season in the ABA. The team plays its home schedule at East Orange Campus High School. The Express made the playoffs in each of their past two seasons and reached the ABA Elite Eight last year in Nashville, Tennessee.
