Erie Explosion News Release

Erie, PA- The Erie Explosion who finished the regular season with a 9-3 record and the SIFL Northeast Division Championship, prepare to bring their high flying offense to Albany for a first round playoff match-up on Saturday June 18th. Under the direction of Head Coach Shawn Liotta, Erie has again proven why they are one of the top offenses in professional indoor football. In 2010 Erie amassed more passing yardage than any professional indoor franchise spanning over 50 teams nationwide. That was followed up with an even more impressive aerial assault in 2011 that saw numerous league and team records fall. The Explosion led the SIFL in scoring at (70.2 ppg), and only the Sioux Falls Storm (73 ppg) of the Indoor Football League have scored more points during the 2011 season. The Explosion's Top Ranked passing offense has accounted for 3,120 yards and 94 touchdowns with only 7 interceptions during the 12 game SIFL regular season.

Opposing defenses have struggled to contain rookie quarterback Adam DiMichele, who has turned in one of the most impressive seasons in indoor football history. DiMichele a Temple product, in only his first indoor season led the SIFL in Passing Offense and Total Offense (235-427, 3,247yards, 91 td - 7 int) while leading the Explosion to the Division Title. DiMichele has shattered numerous team and league records including his 12 touchdowns and 400 yards passing on May 13th vs. the Trenton Steel. DiMichele has spread the ball around to a dynamic group of receivers led by the record-setting Kevin Concepcion. Concepcion who led the Indoor Football League in scoring (31 touchdowns) with the Rochester Raiders in 2010 has followed that performance with the single greatest season by any receiver in the history of indoor football. In only 12 games Concepcion has collected 110 receptions for 1,502 yards and a staggering 47 touchdowns. His 47 touchdowns is believed to be an all-time indoor football record for a wide receiver. Veteran receiver Tirone Morris has collected 22 touchdowns on 51 receptions for 734 yards after joining the team following a week #2 trade with the Columbus Lions. Rookie Ernest Jackson has found the end-zone 13 times on 43 receptions good for 557 yards. Veteran offensive linemen; Mike Fazio, Ron Idoko, Joe Blanks, and fullback Bob Hammer have provided solid protection all season for Erie's high scoring offensive attack.

The Erie Explosion (9-3) will open up the 2011 SIFL Playoffs on the road against the Albany Panthers(10-2) on Saturday June 18th 2011 at 7:00pm. For more information on the Erie Explosion Professional Indoor Football visit www.erieexplosion.com
