Snohomish County Explosion News Release

Monroe, Washington - Devon Greene scored 37 points, to power the Snohomish County Explosion (3-2) to a 114-111 upset over the defending IBL champions Slam (4-2). In Saturday's back to back North Division weekend series for the Explosion, Jason Hicks also scored 23 points, and was almost perfect from the line going 7 for 8 and dishing out 10 assist.

Greene, who also contributed 8 rebounds, had the Explosions' best weekend in point production ever for the Franchise.

"I was just out there wanting to get a good look for team in the last few minutes," Greene said. "I want all the pressure, saying that as a rookie I can't lead a team as some people thought at the beginning of the season is not true. You lead by example wanting to win every game and getting better is the key to reach the next level. We played our type of game, it was up tempo, and we played great team basketball."

"He's well poised beyond his years and is the best guard in the IBL," Weakley said. "He always carries himself like a veteran. He has had a phenomenal weekend, to say the least."

"The guys have taken a big step forward this weekend," Explosion Assistant coach Quantez Gurley said. "We know we have many challenges in front of us. We'll enjoy this one for a few minutes and then get back to work."

The Explosion shot under 60% from the free throw line and this is still a major concern for the team as the game could have been put away earlier instead of in the last few seconds and ending with a slam dunk by Devon Greene to put the exclamation point on the evening.

Tyler Amaya lead the night for the Slam despite the loss grabbing 20 rebounds and 24 points in 44 minutes. Only eight players played for the Slam while the Explosion played their normal rotation with 10 players.
