Exhibition Match in Remembrance of Tragic Earthquake

North Miami, FL (January 11, 2011) -In remembrance of the tragic earthquake that affected Haiti one year ago, a commemorative soccer match will take place between the USA Under 20 National Team and a Haitian All Star soccer team. The game will take place tomorrow Wednesday, January 12th - on the anniversary of the devastating earthquake that killed more than 300,000 people and left more than a million people homeless. The game will kick-off at 8 pm sharp at the North Miami Athletic Stadium, located at 2555 NE 151 Street, at the entrance to FIU - Biscayne Bay campus. The event will be raising money for the earthquake victims, a $10 donation will be taken at the front gate.

The Under-20 United States team is led by head coach, Thomas Rongen. The team is here in South Florida preparing for the CONCACAF U-20 Championship and their final quest to compete in the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia.

"What could be more important than remembering what happened and keeping the memory alive with an annual soccer match" said Coach Rongen

Selection Haiti is the perfect team to represent the Haitian community at the commemorative match. Selection Haiti has won the Copa Latina more than any other team, having brought the trophy to their community a record 5 times. The team is coached by legendary Armelio Luis Garcia, who led the Haitian National team to the CONCACAF Caribbean Cup championship in 2007. The team is being organized by longtime Haitian soccer personality Ze Nono Baptist
