Ex-Lights FC Player Signs with FC Barcelona
September 6, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Las Vegas Lights FC News Release
(Las Vegas, NV) - From Cashman Field to playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, it has been a whirlwind 24 months for former Lights FC player Mamadou Fall.
Fall, originally from Senegal, played for Lights FC during the 2021 season where he appeared in 8 matches playing in 634 minutes. Since last playing for Lights FC, Fall has played for Major League Soccer's Los Angeles FC and for La Liga's Villareal CF.
This week, LAFC & FC Barcelona announced they had reached an agreement for Fall to be officially "loaned" to the Spanish club effective immediately with FC Barcelona having the option to permanently purchase the player's rights from LAFC in June 2024.
"This is an incredibly proud moment for Lights FC to see the path we are providing players to not just excel but to take their careers to higher and higher levels," said Lights FC Owner & C.E.O. Brett Lashbrook. "We wish Mamadou continued success in Europe as his career takes off to new heights."
Lights FC returns to action at Cashman Field with two home games next week. First, this Saturday (vs. Oakland Roots; September 9th at 7:30pm) and then again next Wednesday (vs. El Paso Locomotive; September 13th at 7:30pm). This Saturday will feature two promotions -- (i) Lights FC In-Game Sideline Cornhole Tournament (Learn more at LightsFC.com/Cornhole) and (ii) "Vegas Loves Oakland Sports Teams" promotion where any fan wearing a Raiders football jersey or A's baseball jersey to the Cashman Field Box Office will receive a half-price ticket to that night's match against Oakland Roots SC.
