Everblades Battle For 3-1 Win Over Gwinnett

Estero, FL - The Florida Everblades fought back after Gwinnett evened the contest in the third period to score twice in the final three minutes and ultimately win 3-1 over Gwinnett. The victory was the fifth for Florida in eight tries this season against the Gladiators.
After a scoreless first period in which the Everblades outshot the Gladiators 11-8, Florida got on the scoreboard first with a Shea Guthrie tally (11). Guthrie picked up a rebound on the side of the net off a Brandon Buck shot and poked the puck past David Brown at 13:35. The goal put Florida up 1-0 and the period would end with the Everblades carrying a one-goal advantage to the final stanza.
Scott Mifsud tied the game early in the third period just five minutes in. Mifsud (13) broke into the Florida zone and faked a shot then pulled the trigger sliding it under Beckford-Tseu and into the back of the Everblades net. Despite numerous shots on a power play with five minutes to go the Everblades could not get the go-ahead goal. Florida did take the lead for good with just over three minutes to go as Mathieu Roy (9) took a centering pass from Scott Hotham and deflected the puck past David Brown and into the Gwinnett net. Ryan Lang (12) added an empty net goal to finish the scoring for Florida.
The Everblades will travel immediately after the game to Charleston South Carolina to take on the Stingrays on Friday and Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Florida will finish up the week in Gwinnett to take on the Gladiators for the 9th time this season and third time this week.
