Even The Chill Were Cold

April 20, 2008 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Edmonton Chill News Release

Edmonton, AB - Members of the Edmonton Chill pulled back into town Sunday afternoon under the snow brightened skies of the freak spring squall that descended upon the western prairies this weekend. "It's been like this all the way home," said Assistant Coach Clay Pottinger of the near blizzard conditions plaguing roads all over Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Pottinger, along with Native sin JR Patrick and the recently arrived Teon Knox, were on hand to lend their skills and personality as instructors in basketball clinics for kids aged 11-18. The players then served as ceremonial teammates for both sides at the Fort McMurray Junior High School All-Star. The Chill capped off the day by playing several 3-on-3 games both with, and against - at the behest of the kids - players of all ages.

The Edmonton Chill would like to thanks Curtis Phillips and the entire city of Fort McMurray. Curtis worked very hard along with the local basketball establishment and business community to see to every detail. The weekend was a tremendous success, we believe, for all parties. We look forward to continuing the effort to spread basketball all over Alberta and Western Canada.

Coach Pottinger continued, "All weekend long people kept saying 'We're coming down to see games this spring for sure,' everyone was so welcoming and took care of everything you could think of. If the weather ever gets better I would definitely recommend going back again."
