Falcons swap infielders One of the Golden Baseball League's top hitters this season is headed to Lincoln, Neb.
Surprise sent third baseman Jay Yaconetti, who entered Sunday's action sixth in the GBL in hitting with a .350 average and fifth in the league in RBIs (45), to Lincoln in a one-person trade.
In a separate deal, the Falcons acquired infielder Rusty McNamara, a 5-foot-8 former player at Oklahoma State University, from the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the Northern League.
McNamara is in his ninth season of minor league baseball and in his third year of Independent baseball. McNamara reached as high as AAA in 2001 with the Phillies organization.
Originally a 21st-round draft pick of the Phillies in 1997, McNamara has a career .291 batting average and had career bests in home runs (14) and RBIs (76) for AA Redding in 2000.
McNamara played mostly second base this season for Winnipeg, hitting .258 in 44 games. McNamara started to heat up in July, hitting .333 in seven games.
