Surprise Fightin' Falcons News Release
SURPRISE, Ariz. (Aug. 28, 2005) - The Surprise Fightin' Falcons ended their first season in the Golden Baseball League perfectly even. The San Diego Surf Dawgs scored a run in the ninth inning to beat the Falcons 7-6 in the regular season finale for both teams at Surprise Stadium.
Nick Guerra singled home Darren Doskocil with the game-winning run in the top of the ninth inning to help the Surf Dawgs finish the season 52-38.
The Falcons rallied from a 4-0 deficit as Greg Stevens smacked a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning as part of a four-run inning. The Falcons took the lead with two runs in the sixth, but lost it in the seventh when the Surf Dawgs rallied to tie.
Josh Jarman took the loss in the ninth inning. Chris George (1-4) was the winner for Surprise.
Surprise INF/OF Desi Wilson was honored during the game for achieving a batting average above .400. The 15-year baseball veteran struck out in his only at-bat in the eighth inning to finish the season with a .411 batting average.
