(Erie, PA)- Erie Explosion lineman Marcus Gordon has signed a contract with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League for the 2013 season. Gordon (6'6, 320) helped pave the way for the Erie Explosion Offense to lead the league in scoring offense, total offense, and passing offense on their way to the conference championship game in 2012. Gordon came to the Explosion after spending time with the Kansas City Command of the Arena Football League, Hamilton Tigercats of the Canadian Football League, and the Denver Broncos of the NFL. Following a standout college career Gordon signed with the Broncos as a college free agent on April 27, 2009. Gordon started all 12 games in his only season at Kentucky State after transferring from the University of Louisville. Was a two-year starter at Highland Community College in Highland, Kan., before his time at Louisville. Received honorable mention All-Jayhawk Conference recognition at Highland C.C. in 2004 and was voted the team's best offensive lineman. He attended Westside High School in Memphis, Tenn., where he earned all-region and all-conference honors in addition to receiving the team's Best Lineman Award.

Gordon marks the 13th former Erie Explosion player to sign an AFL or CFL contract over the past two seasons. "We are extremely pleased that Marcus has been given an opportunity to advance his career and that his hard work has been recognized. He has the ability to dominate up-front, and was a vital cog in our offensive attack last season. I have no doubt in my mind that he will be very successful for the Philadelphia Soul in 2013," commented Erie Head Coach Shawn Liotta.
