June 26, 2009 (Erie, PA) - The Erie RiverRats will conclude their 2009 season when they host the defending AIFA champion Florence Phantoms at the Tullio Arena on Saturday, June 27, 2009 with kickoff scheduled for 7 PM.

On this night, the Erie RiverRats and the Second Harvest Food Bank are teaming up to help tackle hunger in the Erie area, and are asking all football fans to bring with them non-perishable food items that Second Harvest can distribute to those that desperately need it. In appreciation of these donations at the arena Box Office, the Erie RiverRats will give out a ticket voucher redeemable for this weekend's game. A voucher entitles the holder to one free ticket with a purchase of one regular-priced ticket.

The Florence Phantoms won the 2008 AIFA Championship, dominating the Wyoming Cavalry in the final game by the score of 48-12, and came into the 2009 season with high expectations for a championship repeat. The Phantoms started the season well, winning six of its first seven games, but lost several key players including last season's league MVP QB Omar Jacobs, and have stumbled badly down the stretch, losing their last six games. Florence arrives in Erie, their longest road trip of the season, with a 6-7 record, and were badly overmatched last week in Columbus, GA losing to the Lions 61-12.

After winning two games in a row in May to briefly entertain playoff possibilities, Erie has stumbled down the stretch, particularly offensively, and has lost four games in a row, including last week's road loss to the D.C. Armor by the score of 47-28. The ‘Rats expect Kevin Mason to lead the offense at quarterback against Florence and his targets will likely include receivers Trumaine Riley (56 catches with 10 touchdowns), Aaron Haynes (52 catches and 10 touchdowns), and Chris Kolokithas (41 catches with 11 touchdowns). DB Dwaon Woodard tied a franchise-record last week with three interceptions at D.C.
